Vision

Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute was established in 1922, initially known as Suzhou School of Art. The founder, Mr. Yan Wenliang (photo left), was an outstanding oil painter and remarkable art educator. At the age of 88, he dedicated the motto 'Enrichment and Brilliance' to express his sincere wishes for the school.

Mencius said 'A man that people like to be with is good. A man who keeps his goodness in himself is genuine. One who fully develops his goodness is called excellent. One whose full development of goodness shines forth is called great. One whose greatness transforms others is called a sage. A sage who is unfathomable is called transcendent.'

'Enrichment and Brilliance', which encompasses the ideal states of art and humanity, body and mind, is the fundamental principal of education in our institute.

Initially established in 1932 as Suzhou School of Art, the school underwent a series of name changes and campus relocations. On September 1999, Suzhou Art & Design School merged with Suzhou Light Industrial Vocational University to form the current Suzhou Art & Design Technoloy Institute. The old campus which was situated around Tiger Hill, relocated to Suzhou International Education Park surrounded by the Shangfang mountains and Shihu lake.

Facilities & Services

	Library: We have a rich collection of books and magazines covering a wide subject range. The collection is frequently updated with newest publications.An online database is available for book search, research and learning. 	Art Gallery: On a sunny day gazing out the huge glass panels of the art gallery, you see golden glimmers shimmering off the lake, or you could sit by the stone staircase and take snapshots of those four resident geese. The art gallery is a huge waterfront 'crystal dock' that houses 12 exhibition halls and ample space for all sorts of events. On the 2nd floor there's a permanent collection of faculty and students' best chosen works, and also a valuable collection of Taohuawu woodblock new year prints which is a form of traditional folk art. 	Modern Education Technology Centre: The centre provides advanced technology services such as computer room, multimedia classroom and broadcasting studio. The Centre has 4 divisions: Teaching and training centre: a training centre authorised by companies such as Adobe, Autodesk, Coreldraw for graphic software skills development Multimedia centre: Responsible for the development and maintenance of school websites and online database, and collection of multimedia footage Network device centre: Responsible for the maintenance of network-related hardware and device, and management of intranet accounts One-card access system: Oversees the smooth operation of one-card access system, manages and troubleshoots techinical glitches. 	Culture & Art Centre: performance theatre, choir practice room, dance studio etc.
	Other Services Psychological health counseling: provide professional analysis and advice for students with psychological issues. The school invests 100,000RMB annually over 100 part-time jobs to provide students with extra income.
